The SUBÜ Healthy Living and Addiction Prevention Society at Sakarya University of Applied Sciences (SUBÜ) has launched the “Sowing Seeds for Health” project, which was awarded funding under the Ministry of Youth and Sports' University Student Societies Cooperation and Support Program (ÜNİDES). Within the scope of the project, which was organized with the aim of raising awareness about healthy living among children at an early age and strengthening their connection with nature, educational and entertainment-focused activities were carried out with students attending Pazarköy Primary School and İnönü Kindergarten in Akyazı. During the first week of the two-week project, students were given training on healthy eating through an activity titled “Getting to Know Healthy Eating.” In the activities, which were designed in accordance with the collaborative learning model and age group, students learned about foods through a game called “Healthy or Unhealthy?” They then had fun singing songs about healthy living. At the end of the event, brochures specially prepared to increase the retention of information and raise awareness among families were distributed to the students. In the second week of the project, students planted tomato, pepper, and melon seeds in the soil as part of the “Touching the Soil for Health” activity. During the activity, which also explained the growth processes of healthy foods in nature, students were asked to draw pictures of how they imagined the vegetables and fruits they planted would look in the future. Finally, students were presented with certificates specially prepared with the title “Friend of the Soil and Health Ambassador.”
