SUBÜ Sapanca Tourism Vocational High School Culinary Department students got 3 medals with the menu they prepared in the ‘International İstanbul Culinary Cup 2020’ cooking competition. Rector Sarıbıyık stated that they would continue contributing to the city in the field of gastronomy.
Sakarya University of Applied Sciences (SUBÜ) Sapanca Tourism Vocational High School Culinary Department students Serhat Temiz, Muharrem Kınacı and Murat Uçar won 3 medals with the menu they prepared in the competition International İstanbul Culinary Cup 2020 arranged with the support of Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

Under the supervision of SUBÜ Lecturer Taner Öztürk, students competing in the Grand Prix Universities Category got the first-place trophy and won 3 gold medals with a menu consisting of avocado shrimp accompanied by fried pancakes, lamb fillet in onion puree bed and mousse tart. The team who competed with 18 different universities during 90 minutes for the preparation and cooking of the menu succeeded to get a full score from the jury.
MULTIPLE CRITERIA
The Jury considered a number of criteria such as preliminary measure, working method and work flow order, hygiene, preparation skill, difficulty level, amount of waste, cooking method, timing, portion size, visual effect, menu terminology, flavour combination and hygiene in presentation of all plates prepared by competitors.
Rector of SUBÜ Prof Dr Mehmet Sarıbıyık stated in his speech: “I congratulate our students and teachers who contributed to the tourism of Sakarya City. It is extremely important to increase the recognition of our city in the field of gastronomy. We, as the university, will continue supporting this field till it gains strength.”
