SUBÜ Maritime Vocational School Manager Assoc. Dr. Nuri Akkaş; stated that Sakarya, whose direction of the maritime city is getting stronger, can become a pioneer in the sector, especially in small boat production, with its location and potential are ready to carry out joint studies in this context.

Sakarya University of Applied Sciences (SUBÜ) Maritime Vocational School Director Assoc. Dr. Nuri Akkas clarified the rise in the ship and yacht industry and Sakarya's position at this point referring to Turkey's 2020 export data. Akkaş said, "Use of different materials and user-friendly design approaches in small boat construction find a response in the world-wide market. Different branches of the industry operate in Sakarya. Thus, there is no obstacle to production in this sense. As in all sectors, we continue to work as SUBU Maritime Vocational School to increase university-industry cooperation in maritime. In this context, we will create a common platform with entrepreneurs, who are operating or planning to operate in the ship and yacht industry. Thus, we want to reveal Sakarya's maritime city feature and create an added value in terms of economy”
